From: genewardsmith (2010-10-23) Subject: Marvel hobbits keep popping up The Marvel[19] hobbit had quite a discussion a while back, under the name Marvel Byzantine, Neo-Byzantine, or Marvel-19. Dave Keenan said of it "Even though there are other convex sets of 19 notes in Marvel, I don't think any are as useful as this one." This is rather encouraging re the general proposition that hobbits define something useful. Marvel[12] is the marvel tempering of the Fokker block diadie2 on my list, which gives the ninth marvel comma pump scale, pump9. Marvel[10] is the marvel tempering of the Fokker block diachrom4. Marvel[9] is the marvel tempering of a scale from one of those imaginary musical kingdoms, kayolonian_f, which is another Fokker block. Marvel[11] seems quite interesting but I don't know if it has ever been noticed. Here's Marvel[11] for all those fans of 11-note scales: ! marvel11.scl Marvel[11] hobbit in 197et 11 ! 115.73604 231.47208 268.02030 383.75635 499.49239 700.50761 816.24365 931.97970 968.52792 1084.26396 1200.00000 ! ! ! premarvel11.scl !
